I have been involved in several MLM or Network Marketing businesses over the years, and have I both failed and succeeded in both. How is this possible? First a little background on me and my MLM experience.
I was in the real estate investing business and had several vacation rental homes and I wanted to offer a travel solution to my vacation rental business. Upon researching the opportunities available, one stuck out and it was YTB Travel, a network marketing travel business. I was hooked on the ease of starting a home based travel business and stumbled building the “business” side or recruiting even though I was successful in travel sales.
However, YTB Travel began to experience some legal woes and I decided to bail on the MLM opportunity for fear of being associated with a bad MLM company. Looking back, I am so happy to distance myself from this company when I did.
Because of my real estate business, my next venture into MLM was Zurvita, an gas and electricity network marketing opportunity, promising riches through an utility MLM. I quickly recruited 60 of my renters and family to switch over to me. What a disappointment this was. People’s bills actually went up $15-$20.00 per month, despite being marketed as a “same cost” option.
Several of my homes, I was paying $20.00-$30.00 per month and getting back about .18-.25 cents per month, per invoice. So I was spending $20.00 per month (per home), to make .20 cents. I quickly bailed on this company after my customers began to notice the increase in their bills as I had.
I then landed into the health and nutrition (weight loss opportunity) with Isagenix. Isagenix offers the best in nutritional cleanse and anti-aging products, offered through the network marketing business model.
I am an expert internet marketer and website designer and have over 650 people in my Isagenix business. So when I tell how what to MUST do to succeed with Isagenix or ANY network marketing, home based business. To be successful in network marketing you MUST:
- Purchase and use the products
- Join on and maintain your auto ship
- Talk to Family and Friends
- Get plugged into Your Company Training
- Help your Downline Duplicate this Same System
There you have it, the secrets to MLM success! I have people join my Isagenix business daily, and the ones that fail, are the ones that do not follow these simple rules to have success in ANY MLM business. Let’s look at each in detail and why its important.
Purchase and use the products-You will never sell ANY product that you do not use and can not “share” your experiences with the product. He is a typical pitch. “Hey Sally, I sell these awesome weight loss products that help people lose a pound a day, safely and naturally and people say they have more energy and feel younger. Would you be interested in learning more?” Yes, tell me more, what was your experience with the product? Do you take them? ANSWER: NO, NO and are you likely to make a sale? NO!
You will never sell a product that you do not use yourself and can not share your experiences!
Join on and maintain your auto ship-Some people that do join on auto-ship, cancel their order after the first month or 2 and wonder why they cant sell anything. This is a 2 sided sword, because usually people cancel sell their product, because they have not became a product of the product (use and consume). Secret: You can not sell product that you do not have on hand! You may not need to have a $1,000 of stock on hand, but in the case of my Isagenix business, I maintain at least 1 9 day cleanse in stock at all times. Many people will call you up and want to run over and pick up the product and often times pay cash. People also just don’t plan ahead and wait until the last minute to order.
Talk to Family and Friends-If you are not comfortable talking to your friends and family about your business opportunity and products, you will never be successful in network marketing. PERIOD!!
Get plugged into Your Company Training-to be successful in your network marketing business opportunity, you MUST get plugged into your company or opportunity training at least one to two times per week and these “team calls” are generally under a half hour each, so you need to commit just one-two hours a week on your training.
Help your Downline Duplicate this Same System-You must teach each and every person to duplicate this same system to be successful and help others build a successful business. You do this buy building your business and helping each person you get to join your business build their business. You are only successful if they are successful!
When you can successfully combine these 5 basic rules for network marketing success, you are sure to have a lucrative career in network marketing.
What about the “MLM Secrets” or “why 94% Fail in MLM” and other “Secrets Your Upline Didn’t Teach You” that tell you you need a MLM lead generation system to be successful? This is NOT true, but after you have been in MLM for a while, you may want a MLM lead generation system to compliment your efforts, but YOU will FAIL at MLM is you depend on a lead generation system for your network marketing success.
I use MLM lead generation systems, and many companies now offer them as part of their MLM opportunity, so they do work, but you must market them to drive traffic to them to generate leads. Are my lead generation systems responsible for my large successful Isagenix business? The answer is no! it just compliments my efforts and I do not rely on it for a successful business.
The only secret to a successful MLM business to purchase your opportunity products on auto-ship, maintain your auto-ship, share your product experiences with your family and friends, help your downline be successful and stay plugged into your opportunity training. After you have become an “executive” level member, then and only then should you consider a MLM lead generation system to compliment your now successful MLM business.
